By now, you have probably heard of the invasion of North Sentinel Island (in the Bay of Bengal) by an overzealous Christian Proselytizer.
Fortunately for the Sentinelese, the people who inhabit North Sentinel Island, his invasion was stopped before making actual contact with them.
Travel to North Sentinel Island is illegal, in part to protect the Sentinelese from outside diseases, and in part to protect tourists and others who may be idiotic enough to attempt communication with a tribe of people who have made it clear they want no contact with the outside world, and who will prohibit such contact with force if necessary.
The Sentinelese have been isolated from the outside world for over 60,000 years, and have therefore developed no immunity to many common ailments we carry – ailments that could easily decimate their population.
The mere act of attempting contact endangers the very lives of these people, who have demonstrated again and again they wish no contact whatsoever with anyone from the outside.
In spite of that, Christian Missionary John Allen Chau decided it was acceptable to endanger the Sentinelese by making illegal contact, in an attempt to convert them to his worldview. He was killed for his efforts, hopefully before the tribe was exposed to any potentially deadly germs.
Why Christians believe it is acceptable to endanger others simply to validate their own fantastical belief system is beyond comprehension. The dangers of such proselytization attempts must be exposed and their efforts countered at every opportunity.
